This is one of those “yes we know that, what is your point” moments from Deedat (among the many). It is beyond debate that for a person or even an object to be used for God’s glory, it or them had to be anointed. It was usually done with olive oil, but sometimes it was performed by the Holy Spirit directly on a person. The olive oil speaks of the Spirit and did in Judaism even though the Jewish faith would not today consider God’s Spirit to be part of the Trinity (because they don’t believe there is a Trinity) unlike the Christian faith.
While all of this is true, it does not take away from the Jewish belief in a special anointing of a person they refer to as the Messiah (Mashiach in Hebrew). This person will be descended from David, will be a gifted leader and well educated in the Law. The Jews do not see the Messiah’s role to be that of a saviour but do see him performing a list of functions that they didn’t recognise Jesus as doing. Therefore have rejected him as being the Messiah (for now). Jesus did reveal himself as this Messiah to his disciples and hence the use of the title Messiah (or Christ in the Greek). Christians know that Jesus will come again but this time as a mighty king and ruling with a rod of iron from Jerusalem. Zechariah 12:10 tells us (and the Jews) that the Jewish nation will realise that Jesus is the Messiah and will turn to him. But firstly though the anti-Christ must come and deceive the nation of Israel.
